Mr. Samuel K. Chemisto, HSC, currently serves as the Acting Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Kenya Trade Remedies Agency (KETRA).
He is a seasoned civil servant with over 30 years of experience in trade development and international trade administration within the Government of Kenya.
Mr. Chemisto began his public service career in 1992 as a Trade Development Officer in the Department of Internal Trade. He served in various capacities across Kisumu, Baringo, and Marakwet Districts before being posted to the Head Office in Nairobi in 2002.
In 2003, he transitioned to the Department of External Trade, where he further advanced his expertise in international trade. In 2005, he was selected for training at the World Trade Organization (WTO) Institute of Training and Technical Cooperation, specializing in Trade Policy. He then gained valuable international exposure at the Kenya Mission in Geneva until 2006.
From 2007 to 2013, he served as Commercial Attaché at the Kenya High Commission in Islamabad, Pakistan, promoting Kenya's trade and investment interests.
In 2014, he was deployed to the Multilateral and Other International Trade Organizations Division, where he contributed to the technical team involved in developing and enacting Kenya's Trade Remedies legislation.
Before he was appointed Acting Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer, he headed the Multilateral and International Trade Organizations Division, which oversees Trade Remedies functions.
Mr. Chemisto has completed various professional, management, and leadership development programs throughout his career, strengthening his expertise in trade policy and international economic relations.
